What is IUSS?

The International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) is the global union of soil  scientists refounded on 2002. The society was founded as the International Society of Soil Science (ISSS) on 1924.

The objectives of the IUSS are to promote all branches of soil science, and to support all soil scientists across the world in the pursuit of their activities. Since 2004, each country researcher organizes a representative national group and participates.

Every four years, it holds World Congress of Soil Science that presents a global forum at which all those involved in Soil Science can meet with scientists, researchers, academics and professionals to discuss and find Soil Solutions for a Changing World.

Science Council of Japan and IUSS subcommittee are contact organizations in Japan.
